Daily Meditation
August 8
I choose to live a life filled with love and joy.
Choosing to live a life filled with love and joy is an intentional act, not a passive outcome of favorable circumstances. It is a daily decision to seek beauty in the ordinary, to extend kindness even when it is not reciprocated, and to let gratitude soften the harder edges of life. Love and joy are not fleeting emotions but cultivated states of being—born from the ways I nurture relationships, invest in my passions, and approach challenges with an open heart. By choosing them, I commit to shaping my perspective so that even in seasons of difficulty, I can still find moments of light.
This choice is also a form of resistance. In a world that often rewards cynicism, speed, and competition, to center love and joy is to reject the notion that fulfillment must come at the cost of compassion or presence. It requires vulnerability—to love deeply despite the risk of loss, to embrace joy without fearing its impermanence. Yet in doing so, I anchor my life to something enduring. Love and joy become not just the colors that brighten the canvas of my days, but the foundation upon which I build a life worth remembering.
