About This Artwork
I created 1964 in 2011, during a formative period in my journey into the public art world. Until then, my work had remained within small, intimate circles. Friends saw potential in what I was making and encouraged me to share it more widely. Soon, I was taking part in exhibitions and events.
This painting grew from that turning point. It holds the feeling of possibility that comes with stepping beyond what is familiar and discovering that a wider world may be waiting.
The title marks a year, but the work looks toward the future. For me, 1964 carries the expansive dreams and optimism of a moment when new doors began to open.
