Abstraction 072123
Original Pastel Drawing on Archival Paper, 2023
About This Artwork
I created Abstraction 072123 during a stay at a quiet lake cabin surrounded by forest. What began with hesitation gradually became an exercise in letting go as the stillness of the landscape, the sunlight, and the solitude shaped the direction of the work.
Part of my Still I Rise series, this pastel drawing was created intuitively, with each mark responding to the moment rather than a plan. The soft layers of color and movement reflect my experience of being immersed in nature and the sense of renewal that came with it.
It is a reflection on resilience, transformation, and the creative freedom that can emerge when we slow down enough to listen.
