About This Artwork
Bright Panic is an original acrylic paint-pen work created in 2026 as part of my renewed Turbulence Behind Tranquility project. The piece emerged after I spent seven hours in an emergency room following a medical event described to me as a silent heart attack.
The hospital was bright, crowded, and relentlessly active. Fluorescent lights, medical alarms, overlapping voices, bodies resting in chairs, and beds lining the hallways created an atmosphere of fear held beneath clinical illumination.
Rather than recreating the emergency room literally, I allowed color, repetition, and instinctive marks to carry the experience. Pink, green, violet, orange, and blue collide across the paper, translating the overstimulation of a nervous system attempting to understand what had happened.
The title reflects the contradiction at the center of the work. Panic is often imagined as darkness. In that room, it was vivid and impossible to ignore. The brightness did not soften the fear. It revealed its intensity.
