About This Artwork
I created Dark Matter in 2020 as part of my Turbulence Behind Tranquility series. The painting grew from a period of deep internal reckoning and an interest in what remains unseen: the emotional weight of memory and experience, and the ways they shape our inner lives.
Oil paint gathers in shadowed layers across the canvas. Movement shifts through the darkness, making the surface feel unsettled and alive. I wanted to let the painting hold uncertainty without rushing toward explanation or resolution. Its depth comes from staying with what is difficult to name.
Dark Matter invites a slower kind of looking. Within its dark, layered surface, viewers may find their own associations with hidden feeling, change, or the parts of experience that continue to influence us quietly.
