Disco Dance – Original Framed Pastel Artwork on Paper by Erin McGrath Rieke
About This Artwork
I created Disco Dance in 2021 as an exploration of rhythm, movement, and the freedom that appears when the body stops asking permission.
Pastel allowed me to work quickly and respond to each mark as it formed. Lines shift, colors meet, and gestures move across the paper with the loose momentum of music. The composition is not choreographed. It follows instinct.
The title holds a sense of play, but the work is also about release. Dancing can become a temporary escape from self-consciousness, expectation, and the weight of being watched. For a few minutes, the body belongs only to itself.
Disco Dance captures that brief surrender. It celebrates movement without perfection, joy without explanation, and the private liberation of finding a rhythm and allowing it to carry you.
