About This Artwork
I created Face Beneath the Silence as an exploration of the emotional life concealed beneath withdrawal. Black acrylic forms suggest a face emerging from the paper, while its features dissolve into the surrounding white.
The figure exists between recognition and disappearance. That uncertainty reflects how depression, exhaustion, and private struggle can remain hidden beneath an outward appearance of stillness.
Part of my Turbulence Behind Tranquility series, this work considers silence not as emptiness, but as a surface beneath which emotion continues to move. It asks the viewer to look beyond what is immediately visible and recognize the humanity held within quietness.

The work invites a slower kind of looking. What first appears quiet gradually reveals tension, vulnerability, and the persistent presence of a person beneath the silence.
