About This Artwork
I created Lovely Day in 2021 as part of The Lotus Project. Inspired by the warmth and optimism of Bill Withers’s song, I wanted the work to hold the feeling of light arriving all at once.
Vibrant pastel marks move across the archival paper, suggesting wildflowers and sunlit fields without settling into a literal landscape. The gestures feel spontaneous, with color and movement opening into a sense of brightness and possibility.
For me, Lovely Day is a small celebration of renewal: the kind of moment when the world seems briefly generous and the day ahead feels open.
