About This Artwork
I created No. 02 in 2022 from fragments of my earlier artwork, magazine and newspaper clippings, book pages, and other printed materials that had already belonged to different images and conversations.
The process became a reflection of emotional life. Thoughts do not arrive in straight lines. Healing refuses chronology. Memory interrupts the present, and identity is continually rearranged by grief, resilience, fear, and change.
Cutting apart previous work carried its own emotional weight. Those pieces held traces of what I had once made and who I had been while making it. Placed beside discarded language and found textures, they became part of something altered but not erased.
No. 02 considers reflection as an act of honesty rather than resolution. Its fragments do not return to their original order. They create another kind of wholeness, one built from everything that survived being taken apart.

My collage practice is rooted in introspection, emotional complexity, and transformation through process. I use discarded and reclaimed materials because they carry histories of their own. Once separated from their original contexts, they can enter new relationships and suggest meanings that did not previously exist.
In No. 02, fragmentation becomes both subject and method. The surface moves between overstimulation and stillness, confusion and recognition. It reflects the changing nature of mental health without treating change as failure. What has been disrupted can still become meaningful.
