About This Artwork
So Much Left Unsaid is a large-scale original mixed media abstract artwork I created in 2023. Measuring 48 x 48 inches, the piece was constructed through intricate layers of vintage musical scores, pages from novels, personal journal scraps, and sections of earlier artwork embedded within acrylic paint.
I created this piece during a period of grief. Each layer carries voice, experience, and even history. Musical notation, handwritten thoughts, and literary passages overlap and curl into one another, forming a visual language that reflects the fragmented nature of remembrance.
I invite viewers to move slowly across the canvas, discovering partial phrases, obscured marks, and quiet traces of narrative hidden beneath the surface. In this way, the artwork mirrors my experience of memory itself. Some moments remain vivid. Others fade, shift, or become distorted over time.
Although the work is deeply personal in its origin, it also speaks to a universal experience. The silence that follows grief often holds words that were never spoken, emotions that were never fully expressed, and memories that surface unexpectedly. Through the layering of visual and textual elements, the painting became a meditation on absence and presence, loss and endurance.
For me, So Much Left Unsaid represents the way memories and scattered voices can still assemble themselves into a form of meaning. By confronting what remained unspoken, the creative process became an act of reclamation.
