About This Artwork
I created Suddenly I See in 2017 while spending time in Florida with my nieces. Their presence brought a sense of play and curiosity to the process. I was drawn to the forms found in flowers: the way petals open, curve, and gather around a center.
Rather than paint a literal flower, I followed those organic shapes into abstraction. Bold color and sweeping movement carry the feeling of natural growth, while layered forms shift between energy and stillness.
For me, the painting is also about perception: the clarity that can arrive when we slow down enough to notice what has been there all along. Suddenly I See brings the details of the natural world into conversation with the changing landscape of awareness.
