About This Artwork
I created Tango in 2015 as part of my Let It Be series, a collection concerned with the uneasy exchange between control and surrender.
Black and cream move across the canvas as if each is responding to the other. One advances. The other pulls away, circles back, and changes the direction of the composition. Their movement feels instinctive but not accidental. It carries the tension of two forces learning how to occupy the same space.
The painting was created through a fluid process that allowed gravity and the materials themselves to influence the final image. I guided the paint without trying to command every outcome. That balance became central to the work.
Tango is about relationship in its broadest sense. It considers the shifting rhythm between certainty and doubt, resistance and release, solitude and connection. Neither side remains still for long. The meaning lives in the movement between them.
