I created Twisted Insides in 2020 as part of my Lost in Translation series. The title speaks to the difficulty of finding language for an inner experience that feels tangled, shifting, or too complex to explain.
Painted in oil on canvas, the work holds that tension in its abstract form. Rather than describe a specific event or emotion, I wanted to give shape to the feeling of carrying something difficult within you while the outside world continues on as usual.
The painting leaves its meaning open. Its small scale invites close attention, offering a space for viewers to recognize their own feelings in the work without needing to resolve or name them.
