About This Artwork
I created Water in 2019 during a time when I was searching for steadiness inside my own skin. Working with blue, white, and gray, with flashes of silver, I followed the movement of the materials across the paper. Some passages flow freely; others feel pulled taut.
The shifting surface came to hold something of the emotional tide I have known: calm and churn, clarity and uncertainty existing together. I began to think about breathing again, trusting the rhythm beneath the surface, and letting what rises move through me.
Water does not resolve those tensions. It stays with them, allowing movement and stillness to share the same space.
