About This Artwork
I created What Silence Holds in 2020 through an intuitive process of layering pastel, acrylic, and collage on archival paper. An abstract floral form begins to emerge, its shape held between delicacy and structure.
I was drawn to the strength in forms that continue to exist without announcing themselves. The layered marks gather and overlap, making space for both vulnerability and resolve. They suggest a kind of resilience that can be difficult to see from the outside: the inner life that persists through change, and the tenderness that remains possible.
The title points toward what can be present beneath silence: memory, feeling, and the parts of ourselves still taking shape. Rather than explaining the image, I wanted to leave room for it to be felt and interpreted personally.
