When You're My Age
ABOUT
When You’re My Age is a vibrant, highly textured abstract painting I created during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. As the world grappled with fear and isolation, I turned to my art practice to process the uncertainty and emotional weight of the moment.
Blending a printmaking technique I had recently developed with my signature flow style, I built layered abstractions that reflect both chaos and clarity. The painting takes its name from the Lori McKenna song that played on repeat in my studio, echoing conversations with my college-aged children who had returned home, and grounding the work in themes of resilience, connection, and intergenerational hope.
