Girl on Fire is a 30x48 hand-painted mixed media canvas from my Lost in Translation small works series. Though larger in scale, it belongs to a body of intimate, emotionally driven work I created outdoors during the isolating months of the COVID-19 pandemic. Inspired by Alicia Keys’ anthem Girl on Fire, the painting pulses with intensity and layered texture. At its center, a veiled figure emerges—unmistakable in presence, with deep, searching eyes and a quiet intensity that lingers. She represents for me both a shadow of who I once was and a flicker of who I might become—a powerful reminder of resilience and transformation.
